The Best Sports Bras for Cycling

There are a lot of important articles of clothing associated with cycling. If you talk to most avid cyclists, they would likely say their bibs or shorts are the key investment piece. And with shoe prices upwards of $400-$500, road shoes are pretty high on the list, too. The problem is, most cyclists that I’ve talked to are men. And with a 36C to 34DD bra size depending on the brand, I didn’t even give a thought to my bra because it never came up in conversation. Once I started riding more aggressively, I realized that this was an oversight. The need for bras that were supportive, comfortable, and moisture-wicking became very apparent. My prior selection of sports bras didn’t offer enough support when I rode on turbulent surfaces or when I was doing a lot of climbing, and sweat would pool in bra because of my positioning on the bike. Not fun!

Now that I’ve logged nearly 2,000 miles on my bike this year, I’ve had a chance to try out a variety of bras, and below, I’m listing my favorites.

TEREZ

I’ve been super impressed with everything I’ve been able to try from Terez, and the coverage on their bras is amazing! This bra is their medium coverage, they actually have ones that are even higher coverage; about up to the collar bone.

Cost: $86

Size Range: XS – XL ( I wear a Large)

Impact Level: Medium

Comfort Level: Most Comfortable

GIORDANA

Ah, a sports bra for cyclists made by cyclists. Now we’re on to something. Tested and worn for over a year by the women of the Mitchelton-SCOTT Pro Team, this performance sports bra supports the body in the riding position while wicking away perspiration. Only draw back is that it’s not as comfortable with a heart rate monitor as other sports bras.

Cost: $74.95

Size Range: XS – XL ( I wear a Large)

Impact Level: Medium

Comfort Level: Most Comfortable

SPANX

When I ordered this bra, I decided to size down because it was listed as medium impact. While that solved the issue of my chest moving while cycling, the straps are a bit short for me at 5’10, and I wouldn’t wear it running. However, while I’m sitting on my bike, this is a non-issue, and I have found myself reaching for this bra quite a bit.

Cost: $58

Size Range: XS – 2X ( I sized down to a Medium)

Impact Level: Medium

Comfort Level: Less Comfortable

KNIX (wearing in the featured image)

By far the most effective sports bra I have ever had the pleasure of wearing. It is the priciest on the list, but to me, is worth every penny. The strap adjustments are genius. It does get a little sweaty on long rides, but stays comfortable. I’ve also done speed running workouts on the track in this bra with zero complaints.

Cost: $89

Size Range: A Cup to a G Cup (Their sizing is a bit different, so be sure to check you bra size. I ended up choosing a Size 3 and it was perfect.)

Impact Level: High

Comfort Level: More Comfortable

SHEFIT

Adjustable in every way, this sports bra is made for absolutely everyone. It’s made to be supportive for all body types, and you can actually control the level of support that you want based on how you put the bra on. I like this bra in particular for short, intense rides.

Cost: $65

Size Range: A Cup to a I Cup (Again sizing is a bit different, but I’m a “Luxe”)

Impact Level: High

Comfort Level: More Comfortable
