This year I haven’t had a bunch of opportunities to travel with my mom, so when I found out we were able to head to Hawaii together, I wanted to treat her to somewhere ultra-luxurious to rest our heads, kick back by a pool (or beach), and spend time together. I looked no further than my Montage family for our leg in Maui. You may remember when I stayed at the Montage Palmetto Bluff last year – talk about a magical trip! There aren’t enough good things that I can say about the Montage properties; they are one of the first hotel groups I look to when wanting to travel in style, and for good reason. Their amenities are bar none the best you will find in every destination they have properties in. The breathtaking oasis in Maui is no different, and in fact, it exceeded my expectations. This was in part due to the most attentive and welcoming staff, the delicious cuisine, and coziest – yet still over the top chic – rooms.
If you’re planning a honeymoon, looking for somewhere magical to get engaged, or just simply hoping to treat yourself, this is the property to book on Maui. Hands down. When you’re there, you won’t want to leave. From mochi pancakes at breakfast, a playful round of tennis in the late morning, dipping your toes (or let’s face it, your whole body) into the most clear and pristine water you will ever see, to that final cocktail at sunset, and everything in between, their team caters to your every whim. Now that is the type of vacation this gal can get behind!
One of my favorite parts of the property is the Kapalua Cliff House. If you look on Pinterest for photogenic spots on the island, this cliffside structure pops up all over the place. Surrounded by teal blue waters, and only available via private booking through the Montage team, it is the ultimate getaway within a getaway. There is a public access path to a set of cliffs you can jump off of across from this house, so you can still snap a few photos if you don’t stay at the property. But, why would you just want to look at it from afar??
Oh, and let’s not forget the food!! Every meal was fresh, flavorful, and accompanied with some friendly faces who will make sure your drink was always full, and the food in front of you is hitting the spot. Pair that with the view you get from the multiple dining options on the property, and you have a world-class dining experience.
Make sure to book one night at Cane & Canoe for dinner. If you can manage it, sit out by the fire pits so you can keep one eye on the sunset and one eye on all the tasty things they bring your way. When it comes to picking something on the menu, the more fresh tuna, the better! The surf & turf is also a great standby for less adventurous eaters.
When by the pool, I recommend a frosé or two to keep you cool, and in that relaxed state that we all want to feel while we’re on vacation. I can’t begin to count how many trips I felt like I needed a vacation from our vacation. Who’s with me?! Fortunately, the Montage Kapalua Bay not only encourages you to unplug, but they give you so many great excuses to ;). A trip to the spa is a must. We also took a workout class with one of their instructors, who frankly kicked my ass, but it was great to get my body moving before switching back into my swimsuit for the day.
I know I know, you’re probably saying to yourself, “Regan, stop gushing already.” When it comes to this property I can’t help it!! If they would have let me move in, I would have. If you are looking to stay somewhere that will knock your socks off in Maui, and have any questions about this property, please comment below! I’m happy to share everything about my over-the-top amazing experience here that you would want to know.
Hello Regan
I came across your blog and the pictures are absolutely lovely. Sounds like you and your mother had a wonderful time. What a nice daughter :)My daughter is planning a very small intimate wedding for this coming December. Between 10 – 15 people. We have never been to Hawaii so this is a little daunting. We came across images of the cliff house and thought it appeared quite lovely. I think you are able to rent it for small groups. Could you please offer your opinion if this would make a lovely setting. I can see that the outside view is great but is it a nice venue in your opinion on the inside? If you think so, any other pieces of advice you can offer would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help
Hi Doreen –
Thank you for your kind words!! The Cliff House at the Montage would honestly be so perfect for a small wedding! I’m more than happy to put you in touch with a member of the Montage team who would would be able to provide you with all the necessary information to make your decision. The nice thing about the property, as well, is the rooms are spacious enough to get ready on-site, and their team is incredibly well-equipped to handle weddings. Feel free to send me an email at regan.cleminson@gmail.com if you’d like the contact!
Best of luck planning!
Regan
